Along the 50-km Black Sea shoreline of Adjara there are numerous famous resorts where plenty of holiday makers from all corners of the country travel in summertime, though most part of the territory of this region is occupied by mountains and highlands. Landscape and climate here create wonderful opportunities for development of mountain skiing tourism. That is why in mountainous regions of Adjara construction of mountain skiing profile resorts is intensively under way in recent years. Mounrain skiing and climatic resort of Gomarduli is located on Batumi-Akhaltsikhe highway, 90 km from Batumi. Several years ago 250-m cable way and skiing trail were constructed here for skiers. On December 29, 2011, for the first time winter season was opened here. There are several family-style hotels, cottages and restaurants under operation in Gomarduli today. Within administrative borders of Keda and Shuakhevi municipalities is located resort area of Ghomas Mta. From Gomis Mta which is placed 18 km from a backbone road, on the elevation of 1800-2000 m above sea level, open up remarkable views on Karchkhali and Meskheti ridges, while in conditions of blue sky one can see even Batumi and the Black Sea. Ghomas Mta has a stable snow cover from October until the end of March. Construction works of a new mountain ski resort are being conducted there. Under construction are road, infrastructure for ski resort, hotels and rest-houses.
